The project is located in the sea area of Alexandroupolis and comprises an offshore floating unit for the reception, storage and re-gasification of LNG and a system of a subsea and an onshore gas transmission pipeline.
The capacity of the floating unit tank is designed for temporary storage up to 153,500 sq.m. LNG, the nominal re-gasification capacity will be 5,5 billion cubic meters natural gas per year while the peak re-gasification capacity will be 22.7 million cubic meters gas per day.
The floating Unit will be permanently anchored at a fixed location at a distance of 17.6 km SW from the port of Alexandroupolis and it will be connected to the NNGS through a pipeline system with a total length of 28 km. The 24 km subsea pipeline will cross the shore near the Apalos village area, east of the town of Alexandroupolis. The pipeline, onshore for the remaining section, will continue its northern route for another 4 km till it reaches the new Metering and Regulating Station, in the neighborhood of the village of Amphitriti where it will be connected to the NNGS.
