The first I.P.P. thermal power plant in Greece


HERON I is an Open Cycle Gas Turbine (OCGT) power plant, located 4 km south of the city of Thiva, in the region of Viotia.
The power station consists of three (3) dual - fuel open cycle gas turbine units LM6000 PC-Sprint by General
Electric. The primary fuel is natural gas, while Diesel fuel is used as an emergency back-up. The net capacity of the units under ISO conditions amounts to 147.762 MW. TERNA as the EPC contractor was responsible of the planning, design, procurement, transport of equipment, installation and commissioning of the plant. The project was performed with state-of-the art technology, according to E.N. specifications, and in compliance with strict safety and environmental restraints.
