The function of this building is to service concerts, musical performances (concerts-oratorio), small operas, ballet performances, musicals, theatrical performances, as well as conventions, expositions etc. It includes two main halls, an Auditorium and Multiple Use Hall for 2,000 spectators, and a smaller one for chamber music and multiple uses, seating 500 spectators, with all the respective ancillary facilities for the public and the performers. Space is provided for technical support, administration quarters, music library and a sound recording studio complex of high specifications for concert recording. All spaces are contained in an orthogonal building, 75 X 79 m in plan, in 5 full storeys. The bearing structure is of reinforced concrete, with the roof over the Main Auditorium consisting of steel trusses.
